Contact Lens Fittings

How to start:

Step 1 – Examination

Before we can prescribe contact lenses to you, we need to examine your eyes. We will search for any eye conditions that might impact your ability to wear contact lenses. We also need to determine your contact lens prescription, as contact lens prescriptions and eyeglass prescriptions differ. We will also go over a few lifestyle questions, to determine if a daily, biweekly, or a monthly lens is best suited for your lifestyle needs.

Step 2 – Fitting

If you are a suitable candidate for contact lenses, we need to measure your eyes to help us find the right fit. Using a special machine (not used during a routine eye exam), we take specific measurements of the curvature of your eye (also known as base curve). This helps us determine which contact lens will offer the most comfortable and stable fit.

Step 3 – Training (for new contact lens wearers)

Once the examination and fitting are complete, we will train you on how to safely insert and remove contact lenses. We have successfully trained children as young as 7, to adults age 59.

Step 4 – Contact Lens Trial

Once you’ve successfully completed training, or if you are already a contact lens wearer, we send you home with sample contact lenses. You can use these sample lenses for a few days to ensure they work for your visual needs and fit comfortably.

Step 5 – Finalizing your Prescription

If you’re happy with the fit and performance of your new contact lenses, we’ll proceed with writing and filling your prescription. Contact lens orders take 3-5 business days. Direct at home shipping is available, ask us for more details.

If the contact lens samples don’t feel quite right, call to book a contact lens follow-up with your Optometrist. We may need to go through a few different sample contact lenses before we find the perfect fit for you.
